The historic kitchens at Hampton Court are fascinating.
Henry VIII’s Kitchens served the Tudor court with more than 800 meals a day.
The kitchens were divided into different departments like the Boiling House, the Fish Court and the Great Kitchen.
The long and narrow Fish Court runs North to South keeping the fish cold.
In the Boiling House meats and joints were boiled all day and fresh pies were made.
There were six great fireplaces in the Great Kitchen used for roasting.
Henry VIII’s Kitchens were used for centuries and served the Stuart and Georgian monarchs and households.
